Birds at Cardz 4 Guyz

This week's theme at Cardz 4 Guyz is Birds, and we'd like to see your masculine cards that feature a bird or birds.

I printed the paper and embellishments from Debbie Moore's beautiful CD, Vintage Discovery, probably my favourite out of all her CDs and packed with man-friendly designs. Then I scored a sheet of Kraft card into a gatefold card and cut out papers and card to cover the centre inside panel and the side panels inside and out. The inner side panels I covered with plain cream card as I feel a card should always have somewhere for the sender to write clearly without it getting lost in a pattern!

To take away the "raw edge" look, I softened all the cut and folded edges by very lightly inking them with Tea Dye distress ink, and on the black card I used for layering, I went around the edges with a v-shaped edging tool, scruffling them up a bit. I decorated the outside panels with border strips in the feather design, and added greetings to the outer topper and inside panel, all cut from the topper sheet. Finally I used very thin foam pads  to attach the feather, just to give it a hint of dimension without too much bulk.
