Take a look at the church on the right - in real life, buildings don't follow the slope of a hill, they are built with all their lines perpendicular. If you were to enter this church, you'd have to walk downhill to get to your pew, and anyone who dropped a pen at the front would find that it rolled all the way to the back. Even the bell in the tower would hang at an angle and be impossible to ring!
However it is a useful die for creating winter scenes, so I do use it from time to time, but always try to position it so that the wonky buildings don't take centre stage.
For this card I stamped the trees in green ink and embossed them with a powder called Tapestry - Jungle which has several shades of dark green in it, and after heating while the powder was still hot I scattered a very tiny bit of white embossing powder over to give them a snow-kissed finish.

How annoying Jane lol. I'm trying to visualise the "church" straight and the houses on a slope but that doesn't work either. Just call it a barn and it works. Love the trees.

ReplyDeleteWell I love this card Jane but since you pointed it out can see what you mean about the church - how very peculiar. Was the designer working with crossed eyes perhaps? You could always chop the church off the die cut piece of card along the snow line and then stick a tree or something there? On the other hand, it's actually rather whimsical :)

As Di says, you could always do a bit of creative cutting! On the other hand, I'm sure somewhere in the world there is a church built on a slope like this. ;-) xx

ReplyDeleteA stunning card, didn't notice the church til you mentioned it. One of my friends in Wiltshire used to live in a 16th century long house, upstairs she could set the vacuum cleaner off on its own to do the corridor due to the slope! Wouldn't fancy living in a house with the same incline as that church though,
