I've had this super rainbow paper fro some time, and thought it was perfect for a clean and simple card. Here I have cut a border of it and combined it with sentiments from the SU "Botanicals for you" set. I used a rainbow inkpad for the large words, and embossed it with clear powder, but I'm not happy with the result, it has a rather scrappy, messy look.
I still wanted the rainbow words, though, so on to the mark 2 version.
This time I applied individual ink pads direct to the stamp, and because they were dye based, didn't emboss it, but the result is patchy and sludgy. I did like the other alterations I had made, though, to use a square of the patterned paper and to make the smaller words into a tab, so on we went to version 3....
This time the words are stamped in black. I think I'll have to resign myself to the fact that this stamp is always going to give a slightly blotchy result, although I've managed to minimise it here, and although I didn't end up with the rainbow lettering I had hopes for, I think this is the best of the three cards.
I actually like the lettering of the first card (with the clear embossing) but the layout of the other cards. Have you considered cutting out the sentiment from card 1 and using it in a similar way as you did for #2 and #3? Maybe with a thin border/mount around the sentiment, too? Just an idea... and yes, making a card suggestion to you feels like teaching my gran to suck eggs...
ReplyDeleteI hadn't thought of that, Petra, and I can see the rainbow lettering would work well against that background paper - I'll try that today. Thanks for the idea

I prefer the first card Jane, the sentiment looks great
ReplyDeletenot everything has to be perfect but the first sentiment is lovely, I also like the design of the second two. I must try that stamp (it's never seen ink)
ReplyDeleteIt's so frustrating when you can't get an image in your head to match in paper form. For the record I think they all look good. Just wondered if you had used a stamp press like a misti or Tim Holtz to stamp the sentiment? As it stays perfectly in position you can keep stamping it until you get the look you want. It's a godsend when it comes to big silhouette type stamps. Probably not easy to do with the multi colour ink, but I often fill in any gaps in stamping with a fineliner pen x
ReplyDeleteOne of my favourite sentiment pairings, but I couldn't get a clean stamping of the large words without using the misti tool. Super bright and happy cards. Thanks for playing at AAA Cards.
ReplyDeleteFun neon rainbow sentiment. Love the clear embossing making it shine. Thank you for sharing with us at AAA Cards.
ReplyDeleteAll three of these cards are great :) I love how you played with the rainbow on the sentiment itself. Thanks for sharing at AAA Cards.
