I have a folder with alternating bands of stars and a textured background, and I measured the width of one of the star bands, with borders each side, and cut a piece of card to size. I taped it over the folder and embossed.
As you can see, a little of the textured pattern did emboss too - I have seen this technique referred to as "diffusion" embossing and I think that must be because the edges come out a bit diffused.
Anyway, I got my starry border! I masked the edges and inked it with yellow DI then stamped the blue sentiment star - a Debbi Moore stamp which works a whole lot better now I have a stamping platform. I'd intended to stop there but the top and bottom looked a bit disconnected so I added a line of glue between the two raised stripes of the border and sprinkled it with blue glitter.
I am sharing this with

Beautiful card, Jane. The partial embossing effect is lovely - another technique for me to try. xx
ReplyDeletePerfectly CAS. Thanks for sharing at Less is More!
ReplyDeleteI love that you attempted a new technique by selecting the star band - well done - it is a great addition to the card! Love the focal image too - the stamping tool really does help with those stamps which need full coverage of ink!
ReplyDeleteVery nice card.. Lots of lovely white space.
ReplyDeleteLove your partial embossing, it looks fab x
ReplyDeleteGreat results from this technique, and a wonderful way to add interest to a one layer card.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for sharing with us at Less is More, Anita x
this is a fab CAS card. Thank you for joining us at Sweet Stampin' this week. Sammy-x
ReplyDeleteBeautiful colour choice Jane and the embossing at the bottom is superb! I love the way the top of it fades out as it adds even more interest to the borders. And the proportion of embossing to clean white space is perfect! Thanks so much for joining us for our stars challenge at Less is More xx
ReplyDeleteSuper nice card in lovely (swedish) colors! ;-) Thank you for joining AAA Cards! Hugs Åsa
