With each new month comes a new challenge at Sparkles Christmas, and this month our theme is Christmas Stockings.
I wanted to create the look of a stocking hanging on a fireplace wall, so I stencilled a brickwork effect onto the inside back of my card, then drew a stocking shape to fill the front of the card, ruling across about an inch from the top to create the mantlepiece and keeping the bottom of the sole flatt-ish to help the card stand.
When I was happy with the shape, I cut away the white card from the side and used my card front as a template to cut the stocking shape from green card, extending the top of the stocking to where I wanted it to end on the card. I then cut a narrow strip of white card just a touch wider than the stocking to make a "cuff".
I ran the green through a knitting effect embossing folder and the white through a swirly one. I covered the whole width of the top of the card with woodgrain effect paper then assembled my stocking over the top of it, finishing off with a sentiment cut from the same white card as the cuff.
