The Snippets Playground, where we are encouraged to make use of all those odds and ends of leftover card and paper, has been running for eight years now, and it is seven years since the lovely Di, of Pixie's Crafty Workshop, took over as headmistress, so Darnell has organised a blog-hop linky party - you can join in here - to thank Di (and Parsnip, of course) for all the hard work and generosity.
I wasn't there at the start of the Playground, in fact I hadn't even started this blog when the gates opened, but not long after I started blogging, I'd used a lot of scraps on a card and someone suggested to me that I should join in. I did - and was overwhelmed by the warm welcome from Di and from many of the regular players. It has to be the friendliest challenge in the Blogosphere. Since first dipping my toe into the water I think I have only missed playing along a couple of times - once when my Mum was in hospital and the other time when I was in hospital. I find hospitals don't take too kindly to having the wards cluttered up with paper, glue and glitter!
Di and I soon found out that we have a lot in common - we live not far apart, both of us have travelled the world as members of military families, and both of us have grandchildren living overseas. Meeting Di, Darnell and lots of other lovely bloggers in Southampton in 2016 was a real highlight of my blogging "career".
And what kind of a party would it be if it didn't involve gin? I've seen Parsnip disappearing behind the bike sheds with a green bottle and a couple of lemons clutched in his paws! So here's my card to celebrate.
The stamp I've used is a brand new one from Crafters Companion - I knew I had to have it as soon as the pre-release announcement came out and I stalked the postman every day until release day! The Gin O'clock ribbon was a gift from Linby of Crafty Linby who shares my love of all things gin related. All the pieces of coloured card are, of course, from my snippets box and the dewdrop gems are from a very, very old QVC kit that I bought about 20 years ago.
Hi Jane, yes am sure Miss will totally approve of your card as very appropriate. Love the colours used and the stamp used, great co-ordination. I’m not good with gin so you mIss and Parsnip are welcome to mine! 😆
ReplyDeleteHappy snippety blog hop! Courtesy of Darnell and Miss Di.

Oh my, this is perfect. I had promised myself no more stamps this year. WTH, I need this set so I can set to and use up many of my snippetts, and its my Birthday soon, so a little pressie from me to me, and as Gin is now a no no for me I can spend the gin money on craft.
ReplyDeleteHow fun and amazing card!! Surely Di will love it! :D
ReplyDeleteOMGosh, what a fun card and Di will adore it too! You are lucky to live so close the Di, I can imagine she is just as lovely in person as she is in blogland! I am envious of of you ladies that got to meet up in person, Darnell is another wonderful person and is as lovely in person I'm sure as she is in blogland. A lot of us has said it, there are so many wonderful and sweet people in blogland! Now I'm not sure I've ever had gin before, so will have to slip out to the bike shed with Parsnips and try it out! lol Fabulous card! Hugs, Brenda
ReplyDeleteBRILLIANT card, fabulous fun sentiment and perfect for Miss Di. I'm off to the bike shed right now xx

Hi Jane . . . wahooo . . . I see you've brought the Gin & Lemon . . . I KNEW I could rely on you. Meet you round the back of the Bike Sheds to share the illicit goods in my satchel!! SUPER card! Love it to bits.
ReplyDeleteHugs, Sarn xxx
Oh, Jane, this is fabulous! I'm bringing treats to share and my empty glass so hope you're sharing the gin and lemon. See you behind the bike shed shortly. :-D
ReplyDeleteWhat a genius creation to celebrate Di and the Snippets Playground! I love all the gin-related embellishments and ribbon, but those lemons are beyond cute! I'm glad to know I'm not the only one who bought all those goodies on QVC so very long ago - and STILL have lots of them in my stash! Great card, what fun!
ReplyDeleteCompletely brilliant card! Jo x
ReplyDeleteLove it! Especially the lemons. I was disappointed to find I'd run out of tonic last week and had to have gin and orange. Not bad but not quite as good. By the way, I think hospitals would be vastly improved by paper, glue and glitter. See you at the party. x
ReplyDeleteWhat a perfick perfick card for this Playground Part A, Jane!! I can see why you had to have that stamp and what a great gift from Lynn! Loving your lemons! I might pop one off to have with my wodka later! Next time we are at the Duck Pond we should have a tasting contest between gin and wodka! But don't ever let me drink ta-kill-ya again. You know that always makes my clothes fall off. Thank you for participating in this lovely surprise thank you for our Miss Di! Hugs, Darnell
ReplyDeleteLove this card, Jane, I SO need this stamp! It will be perfect for quite a few friends. Your design is just fabulous, I love how you've made the lemons. Everything about this design is brilliant! You have showcased the sentiment so well...one a lot of people seem to identify with. me?...sadly not a gin drinker...maybe I should test the water (gin) in the playground when miss has her back turned!
