When we went to Dorset last week we noticed how lovely the roadside verges were looking thanks to many councils now leaving at least part of the verge uncut over the summer. In many areas it's the second or third year they have done it and wildflowers have had a chance to self seed and get established, brightening up our journeys and of course providing a great source of food and habitat for wildlife.
That's the inspiration for the card and tag I have made.
I blended distress inks for the background and spritzed with water, then stamped the wildflower and grass silhouettes randomly over the background. The stamps are from a wonderful sheet that I got from Graphicus, many years ago - they are no longer in business although I believe another company bought the rights to their designs.
I used the offcut piece from making the card to make a matching tag to which I added ribbons to complement the colours of the background.

Beautiful tag and card!
ReplyDeleteYes indeed Jane, it is so nice to see the wild flowers left to bloom, on one of our close dual carriages there is an abundance of cowslips and this year they looked beautiful. You have carried that inspiration onto a beautiful card ans tag which is just perfect for our 'Perfect Pairs' theme this week, many thanks for joining us at Allsorts again.

Very pretty - we have planted wild flower turf in part of our garden and if only it looked as pretty as the card and tag. At the moment it just looks like weeds!
ReplyDeleteJust love the colours you have used. I would not have thought to add ribbon, but your choice complements it so well and a great tag too.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for sharing with us at Allsorts challenge.

Lovely card and tag - thank you for joining in with the Country View Crafts Challenge
ReplyDeleteJane: Hi! On this side of the 'pond' we refer to the roadside grassy area as ditches. Farmers and road crews have times when they can mow and when they can't based on when some of the wildlife's young would be born. In my particular part of the USA Midwest, the roadsides are blooming with Queen Ann's Lace, Tiger Lilies, Black-eyed Susans, Goldenrod, and different grasses. The set you've made does make me think of the roadside habitats! Beautiful! Thanks for linking to APTS blog's challenge month! Becca/DT
