The first time I used this image and paper, printed from Joanna Sheen's "Victorian Christmas Cards" CD, I remarked that despite the Christmas sentiment on the topper, it didn't look very Christmassy to me. A commenter explained that in the early days of Christmas cards, Christmas images weren't always used and flowers were very often used instead. So I feel a lot happier about using this design now!

This is really pretty Jane and as you say unusual image for a Christmas card but it's adorable. I know a cat lover who would love this one. Thank you for sharing it with us at CD a Sunday. Fab bow too. Wynn DT
ReplyDeleteSome of the Victorian ones weren't Christmassy at all. I have some old ones left by my Grandmother and they even have spring flowers on.
ReplyDeleteThis is a lovely card Jane.and the lace doily just adds to the period.
Thank you for sharing with us again.
