Soft and subtle

… are not words usually associated with me!

However, combining the soft tones of pink and grey with a floral image and a stencilled background produced a soft, subtle effect that even I can handle!

The stamps and stencil are all ones included in the fantastic set of 4 stamp sets and 4 stencils that comes with the current issue of Simply Cards & Papercraft magazine. Like many of my crafting friends, I'm absolutely blown away by this set!

First I sponged pink ink through the trellis stencil, then stamped the border (it looks a bit like tyre tracks, doesn't it?) over the stencilling at the top and bottom in grey. I stamped the flower spray onto the stencilled area, overlapping the edge slightly, and then again on a separate piece of paper. Then I cut out the stencilled panel, fussy cutting around where the flower and leaves overlap the edge.

I coloured the large leaf directly over the stencilling and the rest of the image on the separate paper, then fussy cut the flower and stalks and pieced them over the background. I matted it all with grey and then added it to a card with the sentiment stamped in grey.

I am sharing this with a brand new challenge, CAS Stencil, where this month's technique is sponging

Also with The Flower Challenge, where this month it's a colour challenge, using pink and grey.
