Paper Piecing at Back to Basics

It's time for our new challenge at Back to Basics and for this fortnight we would like you to use some paper piecing on your work. If you are unfamiliar with the technique, it involves stamping your image (or printing it, if you are using a digi) onto your background and then again onto coloured or patterned papers and cutting them up to fill in the areas of your image you would usually have coloured. Our main blog has some links to help you find inspiration.

For my card I've used an old stamp from Dimension 4th. The styles on it are ready-to-wear fashions but it reminds me of an old-fashioned dressmaking pattern, hence my choice of dressmaking themed background paper I used snippets of the co-ordinating papers to stamp the fashion items, leaving everything else uncoloured to make the garments the centre of attention, as I'm sure the advertiser would have wanted!

  6. What a super card Jane - a perfect example of paper piecing at its best! I thought it was a dress making pattern at first as well.
