Crazy Cat Lady

When I was a little girl, old people's homes always seemed to be full of crochet. Crochet antimacassars and arm rest covers on the chairs, crochet mats and runners on the sideboard and coffee table, little crochet doileys underneath every ornament. So I decided to pair my almost-crazy cat lady (stamped with a Hampton Arts stamp and coloured with Promarkers) with some faux crochet doileys, fussy cut from Curiosity Corner papers, and background paper reminiscent of the floral chintzy wallpaper and fabric designs that old people seemed to have when I was a child. The woman in the picture actually looks a bit like my Great Aunt Evelyn, whose home in the late 1950s was crammed with crochet and chintz!

I am sharing this with

  4. OMG, all the couches were done in a floral design, right?! Yuck! I never saw one that I liked ... and I love flowers! lol Just not on a couch. But of course my parents had one, too. And the crochet doilies (which I still have, but only have three on display w/antiques). lol Your card is really fun and very creative. Reminds me of my Aunt M. lol

  12. LOL ...yes! I remember crochet being everywhere too! Love your card, my eyes were immediately drawn to the cat draped around her neck, and then as I looked up I noticed the kitty on her head! LOL - love it! My great aunty had one of those awful fox things she used to wear. I was scared of it as a child! So glad its more unacceptable now! ANyway, I'm so glad to have visited you on the hop!

  23. Love love love this card!!! So funny....and true. Ha. Genius to use the doilies and flower print with this crazy image!

AAAAAAAAAAND....I learned a new word! Antimacassar. I never knew what to call those things on the arms and back of chairs....except maybe "those thingies that won't stay on straight and keep falling off!". Of course, I had to look it up...and then look up Macassar Oil...and then look up the Macassar Oil Tree!....and then....well, you get the idea! :)

I am on the homestretch for visiting and commenting on all the awesome cat projects!! I have enjoyed it so much. Thank you for going cat crazy with us during the #2020CatLoversHop!!
