..... squashed his wife with a lemon squeezer.
OK, Shakespeare didn't write that, but he did write Julius Caesar, which despite having studied it at school is still my favourite of his works. In fact I can recite great chunks of it - but for now I will just say
"Friends, Romans, countrymen, lend me your ears"
The latest challenge at The Male Room is Shakespeare, so I immediately know I wanted to make something with a connection to Julius Caesar, which of course is set in Rome. I've used the Rome stamp from Tim Holtz's Cityscapes set, stamped several times as a background and then again on extra card, which I trimmed and coloured. I used purple - not that any of the buildings are actually purple - because as an Emperor, Caesar would have worn a trim of Imperial Purple fabric to his toga.
The statue head could be just about anybody, it was a stamp from a Raindrops on Roses goody bag many years ago, but let's just pretend it's Caesar and likewise let's pretend the stamps show the Roman skyline as it was then and not as it is now. Artistic license, you know!
I am also sharing this with Crafty Creations - Black and white with a pop of colour

I was trying to think of a witty Shakespeare response, but couldn't! Great card and artistic license applies anyway. Cara x
I do like your sense of humour Jane. Your card is lovely. Great stamping. The head is a useful little stamp. Barbxx

I really like your take on the theme. I was thinking of doing something along these lines, so it's nice to see your card. I like the spotlight of colour too. Nicely done. Thanks so much for playing along with our Shakespeare theme here at The Male Room. Deborah, DT.
I too studied Julius Ceasar and loved it so your card really catches my eye. I like the stamp pattern repeat used for the background and the bust is a find! Thanks for joining us in The Male Room
