English rose

When we bought our first house, the garden was full of old fashioned English roses, and this stamp, which I won in a challenge a while ago, reminds me of those roses and the tiny blue butterflies that used to flit among them.

I've combined the image with a die cut and embossed circle, using a Marianne die, and punched leaves made with a Woodware punch. Do any of you have any tips for reviving an old, tired punch? I know about cutting sandpaper to sharpen it, but in the case of this one the mechanism seems to be getting a bit sluggish, and it isn't accessible for me to squirt some WD-40 on to it. The grandchildren love this punch and punch dozens of leaves every time they visit, and I think it's getting old and worn out - a bit like me!

I've finished it with a few pearly flowers and some punched butterflies.

No your OK Jane. You have punched butterflies on your pretty card. The pojnt of the challenge was to make everyone revalutate their punches and breath some fresh life into them. I didn't want just die cuts as that would defeat the object. But no problems here. Other than sand paper I don't have any other Tips for reviving punches. You may have to resort to investing in a new one. I only have two rose bushes in my garden. Both the old English rose variety but they flower every year. One white one and a red one. Thnkyou for fluttering by my challenge where your card will be entered twice. Hugs Mrs A.

Beautiful card, love that shade of pink. I wonder if punching the lubricant sheets that you buy for paper shredders would help? It looks a fabulous punch, I can see why you want to keep it going. Cara x
