I was delighted to recently be chosen as Empress of Squash over at Let's Squash It, the embossing folder challenge, and as a result was invited to be guest designer for this month's challenge, which is to emboss something other than paper or card.
I decided to have a go at embossing metal. I used a piece of thin craft metal, red on one surface, and embossed it with an all-over heart patterned folder from Santoro then sanded the surface lightly to allow the silvery base metal to show through.
I added a cross little kitty and sentiment, using Clearly Besotted stamps, and made it into a gatefold card.
Here is the closed version - excuse the clothes peg, it's just to hold the card closed while i took the photo.
I'm really excited to see what you decide to emboss - and if you are looking for ideas of surfaces to try, come back later today when I'll be revealing some more of my experiments in squashing!

First, congrats on guest designer for Let's Squash It. Second, I love your card. The red heart and shiny background is the perfect backdrop for the sentiment. And I love the snarky sentiment. That cat surely does have "cat"itude.
Wow Jane - just love the embossed and sanded metal sheet - I must try that medium!! Darling kitty atop the heart background too! Congrats on being guest designer at LSI!!
So happy to have you as our guest this month, Jane! What a fun card - love the attitude on that kitty's face. Nice use of metal. Jo x
Love the fact your kitty’s deeley boppers (am I showing my age?) match the heart pattern of the embossing - fab card and congrats on being Empress this month!
Such a super sweet card and a very cute kitty. I just read that these are called Deeley Boopers she's wearing LoL Didn't know that hahahaha
Thank you for coming to play at SUYP Cats Challenges.
