Many thanks to all of you who have emailed, or commented here or on Facebook, about my Mum's recent visit to hospital. She was discharged last week and we went up (having checked that essential caring was allowed under Covid restrictions) to help her settle in at home and make sure the help she needs is properly organised, as well as to celebrate her 95th birthday which just a few days earlier we feared she wouldn't reach.
She's not doing too well - she has carers in four times a day to feed her, take her to the loo and get her in and out of bed or her chair - apart from that she is totally immobile. She's very confused and doesn't really know where she is or what is happening to her, and although she was sent home for a trial period, I think that social services will soon decide that residential care is the best option for her. It's all very sad, but it seems that all I can really do for her now is to make sure she has a continuous supply of her favourite biscuits.
Anyway, I've still managed to fit in a little bit of crafting...

I'm glad your mom is doing better although it does sound like she needs to be in a facility that monitor her better, although 4 times a day caregiving is really good. Love your card, sure did make me giggle. Thanks for adding it to the A is for Animals challenge at the Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers. Sending HUGS.
Happy to hear that your mom is doing somewhat better and at home. Your card made me chuckle. With three dogs I know all about butt sniffing. LOL!
A fun card Jane!
So sorry to hear about your Mum. It sounds as if she needs residential care. It would mean she has company during the day as well as the 24 hour care.

Hi Jane. Sorry about your Mother. I hadn't read about her on your blog but Pamela told me in an email. I do hope that a good solution is reached.

Ah Jane, hope all goes as well as possible with your mum. Glad you got some craft therapy in so you could join us with this hilarious card!
I'm so sorry to hear about your mom. It must be hard to watch a loved one deteriorate like that. I can imagine it's worrisome to know that she doesn't have 24 hour care and oversight, and I do hope that social services can come up with a better solution.
On the positive side, you got to squeeze in some craft time and make this hilarious card that will bring laughter to the recipient!
So sorry to hear about your Mom Jane.. sending tons of positive thoughts!! And LOVE your card... hilarious!! Thanks for being our Sistah! ((HUGS)) Hlene
It's a difficult decision but residential care will surely give you mom the security that she needs and I'm sure she appreciates the supply of her favourite biscuits - sometimes the little things can mean a lot. Your card is hilarious and oh, so Jane! Big hugs, Jo x
A lovely fun card. I like the colours you have chosen. Thank you for sharing with us.
