Bubbly bath

What could be more relaxing than a bath full of luxurious bubbles?

I made the upper bubbly background using an embossing folder without embossing -  ink the folder with a water based ink, spritz it with water and then press your paper or cardstock down  onto it, to give a flat finish.

My first attempts failed because I used hybrid inks that didn't react with the water and tried to transfer the image by simply closing the embossing folder. The piece I've used here was made using Distress ink and heavyweight watercolour paper and pressing the paper firmly down onto the inked folder. I used a very large acrylic block to help get the pressure even.

The lower background is stamped using a cluster of bubbles stamp and heat embossed with clear powder.  The stamp, along with the lady in the bath stamp and the sentiment which I stamped onto the bathtub, all came from a recent issue of Creative Stamping. I coloured the image with pencils, adding some highlights of brass coloured gel pen to the piping and Stickles, applied thickly, to give a foamy appearance to the bubbles in the bathwater.

I am sharing this with

Beautiful card, Jane. What a great technique for using the embossing folder - I've never thought of using an embossing folder this way. Love all the bubbles - clever idea to use the Stickles this way. xx
