Christmas Kitties

My plan to make two Christmas cards a week this year isn't going terribly well.... so far I've made the sum total of FIVE. As I need over 80, I'd better get to work if it's not to be a last minute rush!

The paper, topper and flowers for this card were printed from Joanna Sheen's "Vintage Christmas Cards" CD. I don't know why it is, but when I print out from Joanna Sheen CDs the effect always seems to be a bit muddy. It could be my computer settings, my printer or the papers I use - I don't know, but it only ever seems to happen with Joanna Sheen ones. In this case, the muddiness may be intentional, as part of the vintage effect, but not all my JS CDs are vintage ones!

Although they flower in winter, Pansies aren't really flowers I associate with Christmas, but the sentiment is very definitely a Christmas one!

I'm sharing this with

CD Sunday - Curious Cats
Christmas Cards All Year Round - Vintage Christmas
Crafty Hazelnut's Christmas Challenge Extra - May

Hi Jane. Most Victorian Christmas cards weren't Christmassy at all and quite often showed Spring flowers so your pansies and the kittens are perfect.

I didn't realise that Carol, but it explains a lot of the images on the CDs. I think a lot of images sold as "Victorian" aren't historically correct - for instance all those with Santa dressed in red, when he actually wore green until the early part of the 20th century. Although I've been told that the story of his coat having changed colour because of a Coca Cola advert is actually an Urban Myth.

I remember images like this Jane, I have a few birthday cards from when I was a toddler and they have cute kittens on just like this! Trying to get caught up on my commenting, I'm glad I didn't miss your lovely card!
