Out in the forest

.. you don't usually see red, orange and yellow fir trees.

However I rather like them. This stamp is an old PSX one of a single tree (sad story coming up) which I stamped across the card, starting with red in the centre - yes, it does look as if I need a new red ink pad, doesn't it? And being a wood mounted stamp, I couldn't just stamp over and over with the Misti until it was bold enough -  then moving out through orange to yellow.

I drew in borders with my finest fineliner to keep it to a one layer card, then stamped the sentiment using a magazine freebie stamp.

Now the sad story.... this was going to be one of my two cards for the Twofers challenge, as well as for the challenges I made this particular one for. My second card was to include a UTEE panel with the tree stamped into it. But when I stamped my tree into the hot UTEE, it set solid into it and wouldn't budge, and when I tried picking the enamelled part off I found much of the rubber broke off with it. Both the stamp and the UTEE powder are around 20 years old, so it could be that the rubber of the stamp was starting to perish or it could be that something in the powder had changed with age, but whichever it is, I've had to say a sad farewell to a much loved stamp and of course now I can't use it for my second card for twofers, so it's back to the drawing board with that challenge.

However, coming back to this challenge. I would like to share it with

Oh no! Your poor stamp! At least it had a fitting farewell, this is a beautiful card, and a great way to work with our theme colours. Thanks for joining in with the 52CCT.

That is a sad story and a sad loss. I was admiring the stamp and wondering if I could get one but I guess not. I love your card though, gorgeous colours and design. Thanks for joining in at 52CCT

Beautiful and colourful card you've created with this lovely tree stamp Jane. The colours are bright and fun! Thanks for sharing with us at CAS Christmas! Sorry to hear about your stamp and UTEE mess. I have not tried that technique because I was worried about the same thing happening. It's sad when it happens to a beloved stamp that you use a lot. Hopefully you can get a replacement of the same image.

How sad that your stamp didn't survive the Utee, Jane! I'm glad you got to make this beautiful card before the stamp expired! Beautiful colors and a fun Christmas card! Thanks so much for sharing with us at CAS Christmas!

The Christmas trees in unconventional colors are so cool, Meg! Hand-drawn thin borders are sharp and effective. Thank you so much for sharing with us at CAS Christmas.
I'm sorry about your stamp and UTEE...

I was over at your Twofer entry and when you mentioned this, I had to stop and find this post. I'm so sorry you lost a beloved stamp, Jane. It really is a great one and I wish I had it so I could send it to you. Maybe someone else will have it. Before it meant an untimely death in a sea of UTEE, it did a bang-up job making a bold and colorful tree lineup for this cheery Christmas card! Hugs, Darnell
