Falling blossom

I know Chinese New Year is over, but it's reignited my love of all things Oriental and I'm still working my way through some of the stamps I lifted out at New Year time. The stamps I used on this card were from a cover mounted set that came with the much missed Get Stamping magazine, I think. I've kept the design CAS by sticking to just two colours, brown for the stamping and pink for everything else - including the dragonfly. I've never seen a pink dragonfly in real life but there are some in my pack of pastel brads!

Is it just me, or does the font on the character stamp make "Beauty" look as if it says "Scanty"?

The Ironing Fairy - La Pashe DT

The new La Pashe CD-ROM, Gnomes and Fairies, is now available to buy from the site, and WHAT a great CD it is! Obviously I'm a huge fan of La Pashe, otherwise I wouldn't be on the Design Team, but I really can't praise this CD highly enough. The designs are witty but not cutesy, aimed at adults and yet in many cases suitable for children too, fun and versatile. There is decoupage, both traditional and Flippin' (double sided), as well as toppers, sentiments, digis and an incredible selection of background papers, over 230 different designs and colours!

Today I'm sharing with you a card made from it using a fairy I'm sure we all wish we had around - the Ironing Fairy. I love all the detail in the image, which means it would work beautifully as a stand alone topper - and yet all those lovely colours in it mean it's also tempting to delve into the bits box to see what interesting scraps you have to go with it, so here I've added die-cut flowers and leaves, plus buttons and candi, to make a fun card with lots going on on it.

CAS at Cardz 4 Guyz

This week our theme at Cardz 4 Guyz is CAS - Clean And Simple - and we'd like to see your CAS cards, suitable for a man.

My card was inspired by a button from a super bargain pack (99p for a bag of 36 jumbo sized mixed pictorial buttons!) that I stumbled upon while browsing Amazon. I loved the spectacle design and thought it would make a great basis for a card. Unfortunately I didn't have a die for spectacles or moustache, so I had to draw them freehand, working on scrap white paper until I was satisfied with the shape and size, then using my white images as a template on black card.

I chose the ribbons to link the cream of the button to the white of the card. I always like grosgrain ribbon on a male card, and gingham works well too as long as it isn't in too girly a colour.

Good friends eat cake!

Unfortunately if the sentiment I've used on this card is true, I can't be a good friend to anybody, as I can't have cake! But it's a pretty design and I just love the huge cupcake the girl is carrying!

The stamps are from a Polkadoodles set, and the papers from the pull out section of an old issue of Making Cards. I stamped the mini cupcakes along the bottom onto the background paper as well as onto white card to colour in and cut out, so that I didn't lose the cherry stalk in the cutting out. I don't think it shows in the photo, but the "frosting" on top of all the cupcakes is done with Wink of Stella.

Tag, you're it!

Today I'm trying something I've never done before - a tag, but in a CAS style. Although I use CAS quite a lot in card making, when it comes to tags I go all out with ribbons, lace, layering, embellishments - I throw the whole lot at them! But on one of the lovely blogs I follow, I saw mention of the Tag You're It! challenge and when I read that it was all about CAS tags, I decided to step out of my comfort zone and give it a try.

So here is the photo inspiration for Tag You're It! challenge #17

I took my inspiration from the curved swag of roses - my curved swags are actually two halves of a circular stamp, an old one called Rose Ring from Stampendous.

Going Green

This card is made with yet another of the gorgeous little sets of mini stamps from Studio G that I won from Going Buggy. They are such useful stamps, and most of them are absolutely perfect for CAS cards.

 

Incidentally, does anyone know whether Promarkers can change colour? The one I used on the far left has always been a pale green, but it seems to have changed to a green that is so yellowy it actually looks yellow in the picture. I'm sure it wasn't like that until a couple of weeks ago - it's certainly nothing like it's supposed to be!

Cheeky Monkey!

I love this Woodware stamp set and have used it in many ways over the years. Today I've made a One Layer card as it's One Layer week at Less is More this week, with the subject being Animals, and chose the monkey from the set because so many of them live in areas of tropical rain forest so it also fits in with CASology week 127 - Tropical

Really, that's all there is to say about it - some fun stamping, some fun colouring and hey presto, a quick, simple card that would be perfect to send to a child!
