Blue lighthouse

I've been having another play with the wonderful sea themed stamps in the latest issue of Creative Stamping - this time I've gone for a very CAS style by keeping it monochrome.

I stamped the lighthouse scene on watercolour paper using a water based blue stamp (it's actaully a Marvy Matchables pad that must have been in my stash for 25 years and is showing no signs of drying out yet!) then used a wet paintbrush to tease out the colour from the stamping into the areas I wanted coloured. I die cut the image before stamping the flock of gulls, to make sure they were in the right place to balance the lighthouse and didn't get chopped off in the middle.

Next I cut a strip of turquoise blue card and stamped and heat embossed the sentiment on it. I positioned the topper and strip on the base card to make it look as if the blue horizon extended out to the edge of the card.

I am sharing this with

Like you, I've been crafting for a long time now (18 years, maybe?) and I'm surprised at the things that have lasted (inkpads like yours, surprisingly fresh) and those that haven't (some relatively expensive rubber stamps that have disintegrated!). Anyway, what a stunner this card is... the design is great and it looks wonderful all in blue. Thanks for joining The Library.

I love the details in the stamp and how you've placed the sentiment strip so that it looks like the horizon is extended. Thanks for joining our AAA Birthday challenge!
